a) This commercial communicates well with hearing-impaired audience members because, it teaches the importance of communicated with the deaf. The deaf community is large and it is important to learn sign language to communicate with those who are hearing impaired. This commercial shows that Marriott goes the extra mile for all of its customers, especially those with disabilities. Using sign language throughout the commercial shows us this.
b) The commercial does a really great job communicating and being able to communicate with the deaf community. The deaf community has an advantage in this commercial because the women are signing words and conversations that aren't subtitled for hearing people.
c) The commercial does nothing for visually impaired people. The majority of the commercial is just instrumental music until they say “Treating other like we’d like to be treated, has always been our guiding principle.” A visual impaired person would be able to understand their motto, but the entire story of the commercial would be lost.
d) The commercial should be narrated to help visually impaired better understand it. Although I think that this commercial is trying to use silence to perpetuate their message of being sensitive and accommodating to hearing impaired people and have hearing people understand what it’s like to be deaf.
