Forum Post #1: Introduce Yourself

Personal Background:
My name is Sarah Hollingsworth. I am from Wellesley, MA a suburban town about 15 minutes west of Boston. I am the oldest of 3 children. I am extremely close with my family, especially my cousins. I have a summer house in Cape Cod and my grandparents and cousins each have a house next door. I grew up spending every summer living next to them and going to the beach with them every day.

Education:
I am currently a junior at HPU. I recently switched my major from interior design to communications. I am not sure exactly what I want to do once I graduate but I felt communications is broad and that will help open the doors to different types of jobs. I plan on moving back to the Boston area after I graduate.

History:
Every summer since I can remember I have nannied. I enjoy spending time with children and I like to work. I am not good at sitting still. Currently, I work for a High Point family with two young boys during the afternoons.

Life Style:
I live a really healthy lifestyle. Getting enough sleep every night is something that is very important to me. I like to eat clean as well. Often times you can find me at Pure Barre, a gym that has both a location in High Point and my home town.

Strengths:
I am extremely organized. I never miss a deadline or due date, and if I some reason do, that means something must be going on in my personal life (like last semester, my dad broke his back, and I missed a week of class but still turned everything in on time.)

I am chatty and love to talk. I am outgoing and friendly. Say hi to me in class and it wont be weird!

The deaf community is large and it is important to learn sign language to communicate with those who are hearing impaired. This commercial shows that Marriott goes the extra mile for all of its customers, especially those with disabilities. Using sign language throughout the commercial shows us this.   b) The commercial does a really great job communicating and being able to communicate with the deaf community. The deaf community has an advantage in this commercial because the women are signing words and conversations that aren't subtitled for hearing people.   c) The commercial does nothing for visually impaired people. The majority of the commercial is just instrumental music until they say “Treating other like we’d like to be treated, has always been our guiding principle.” A visual impaired person would be able to unders...

The Lion King Rises For my move trailer mashup I used the video from The Lion King and the audio from The Dark Night Rises. I had to match up the audio so it matched the video when people were talking. Surprisingly some places matched up easily whereas other I needed to work harder to get the voices to line up. I used Adobe Premiere to edit the video/audio.

What I included: - Running noise - Water pouring - Snoring How/Why: I used all of these noises to help the audience get a better feel for what I was talking about. This first sound is he running noise. I used my feet on a hardwood floor. https://soundcloud.com/user-939585680/run-1 The second noise is water from the tap. https://soundcloud.com/user-939585680/new-recording-5 Lastly, the third is snoring, and I tried my best to mimic a snoring noise. https://soundcloud.com/user-939585680/snoring
